We've so much been concerned about the national elections lately, particularly about the news that Among Ed is reportedly interested on joining the presidential race, and the resurrection of Bro. Eddie Villanueva and his possible team up with Bro. Mike Velarde.
Now, let's look at the locals, as I deem it equally important to let the people know who's inclined on running in the local elections.
A day after news broke out that Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim is eyeing a reelection, gmanews.tv reports that this could lead to a possible Fred Lim-Lito Atienza showdown in 2010.
Atienza, a former ally of Lim became Manila Mayor in 1998 when Lim ran and lost in the Presidential election.

In 2007, Lim again campaigned and won the mayoralty post vs. Lito's son Ali.
Come 2010, we expect a very interesting political showdown in Manila.
In Quezon City, Feliciano "SB" Belmonte is serving his 3rd and last term as Mayor. Early on, we have seen significant posters of "Belmontes" all over the city, which, naturally, is suggestive that they will field themselves as candidates in the local elections.
In December, there are talks that Vice Mayor Herbert "Bistek" Bautista might run for Mayor. Majority Leader/Councilor Ariel Inton is also reportedly eyeing the post.
Would you be surprised if this man will take a crack and run for Quezon City Mayor?
Though not yet confirmed, but a source-in the know says so. Yes, folks, Michael "Tol" Defensor might run as Quezon City Mayor in 2010.
As always, Quezon City (also dubbed "The City of Stars") electoral process will be star-studded once again, as we expect showbiz personalities to line up for the positions. There is, of course, Bistek, Aiko Melendez, Jigo Garcia, and Alfred Vargas (yes, you've read it right).
Many more names to be revealed as we gear up for 2010.
