Hayden Kho - Katrina Halili Scandal: Haven't We Had Enough?

Thursday, May 28, 2009 ·

I say we've had enough.

Our evening news for the last two weeks wouldn't be complete without the issue. Showbiz talk shows capitalize on it. At home and in the office, people continue to feast on the latest developments. Pirated CD vendors definitely hit high sales despite the OMB's continuing effort to seize and capture the video scandal.

So much that the penetration of the deadly Influenza A (H1N1) virus in the Philippines, the merger of Kampi and Lakas, and the Villar probe in the Senate were easily overshadowed and put aside.

The then showbiz chismis has now become a national issue that the Senate has summoned Katrina, Hayden, et al, to give their testimonies in aid of legislation.

The probe starts today, and as expected, the Senate conducted the inquiry in public, with the media feasting in for scoops.

I personally believe that the Senate need not require the involved personalities to attend the session, because they only add drama and comedy which transform into lots and lots of more chismis along the way. The issues, the videos, and the news are but enough reference to aid legislation. And in fact, we need not wait for famous personalities to cry foul over illegal video coverings of their private affairs. Our DVD vendors in Quiapo are living proofs that this illegal trade happens in the country.

But then again, I say we've had enough and even more. I believe it is about time we move on and discuss the more important matters that cater to the well-being of the country. Let's leave the issue behind to our Senators and have them do what they are supposed to do-legislate and approve laws against these immoralities.

Life goes on.
